Is Aesthetic Care for Me?

While these services may not be for everyone, they have become much more mainstream in recent years. Once thought to be a service for the rich and famous, this popularity has made them much more affordable. HD Aesthetics is a one-stop-shop. If you think of the face as an aging mattress, injectables help with the wrinkles, while creams provide a fresh, new sheet.

Neuromodulators, such as Botox, help improve lines and creases. Dermal fillers, such as Restylane, help with desired curves and definition of the face. Our physician-grade peels and creams support the face by stimulating the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin of the skin.

Are There Any Risks?

While proper technique and training help ensure successful outcomes, there are some risks with aesthetics. Below are some educational links

Pre-care

Following our pre-care instructions is necessary for all appointments, as failure to do so can result in complications, and we may be forced to reschedule.

  • To reduce bruising and swelling, please avoid blood-thinning medications, foods, and supplements (unless they are prescribed to treat a health condition) for 7-10 days before your appointment. This includes but is not limited to ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, fish oil, salmon, almonds/almond milk/almond butter, sushi, garlic, green tea, and other supplements. Please refrain from taking supplements that are not prescribed to treat a medical condition until after healing has occurred.

  • Please use Tylenol for pain, as it does not thin blood. If you may need a pain reliever within the next two weeks, please have Tylenol on hand. Of course, please avoid Tylenol if it is contraindicated with any of your medical conditions or medications.

  • Please do not consume alcohol for at least three days before your visit.

  • Please make sure not to come in on an empty stomach!

  • Hydrate adequately for a week before treatment (6-8 glasses of water daily), especially if you are being treated with dermal fillers. Fillers draw water to the surface, and dehydration can severely minimize results!

  • For any injectable appointments, please do not plan any special events for at least one month after the treatment. There may be swelling and bruising for 1-2 weeks following your appointment, and it may take up to a month for tissue to ultimately settle.

  • Please arrive without makeup. It will have to be removed before your appointment (this includes all eye makeup).

Post Care

Botox/Xeomin

  • Extremely Important! Do not lie down or bend over with your head down for 3 hours.

  • Please squat rather than bending over at the waist. This can cause the product to move in the face, producing undesired results.

  • Avoid all medications/supplements/foods/alcohol (unless medically necessary) that were listed in the pre-care instructions until swelling and bruising have healed. Please use Tylenol for pain, if need be.

  • If there is bruising at the injection site, ice the area for 10-15 minutes on, 15 minutes off, as much as possible for the first 24 hours.

  • Avoid exercise for 24 hours.

  • Avoid facials, massages, exfoliating, and Clarisonic devices for 2 weeks post-procedure.

  • Avoid tanning or prolonged exposure to sunlight until swelling/bruising has subsided, as this can cause hyperpigmentation.

  • Please wait until the day after treatment before wearing hats or headbands.

  • Please allow 2 weeks before evaluating results. If there are any questions or concerns about results, please contact us at +1 (267) 518-5288.

  • If this is your first Botox treatment, please take “after” photos 2 weeks post-treatment to bring to your provider at your next appointment. This will help us evaluate the proper dosage for your next treatment.

Dermal Fillers (Restylane)

  • Immediately post-injection, ice area for 10-15 minutes on, 15 minutes off, as much as possible for the first 24 hours.

Important!-Sleep with your head elevated on your back for the first 24 hours. Again, the goal is to avoid undesired results. Immediate, firm pressure on treated areas can cause distortion of the product.

  • Avoid all medications/supplements/foods/alcohol (unless medically necessary) that were listed in the pre-care instructions until swelling and bruising have healed. If you experience a need for pain relief, please use Tylenol instead.

  • Avoid exercise until swelling/bruising has healed.

  • Avoid makeup until the day after the procedure. For days following, dark matte lipstick covers bruising best!

  • Avoid facials, massages, exfoliating, and Clarisonic devices for 2 weeks post-procedure.

  • Avoid tanning or prolonged exposure to sunlight until swelling/bruising has subsided, as this can cause hyperpigmentation. More than 20 minutes unprotected is too long.

  • If you feel that an area needs help blending in areas of the face, you may massage the area a few times a day for the first 1-2 weeks.

  • For lip injections, avoid pursing the lips for 2 weeks, which may include straws or water bottles (only use cups), kissing/intimate oral actions, and smoking/vaping.

  • For lip injections – the maximum amount we recommend per treatment is 1 ml of filler for lips. This helps prevent overfilling the area or losing the natural shape of the lips by adding too much at one time. Many clients require additional treatments to reach their goals. Once goals are reached, they are typically maintained with .5 ml every 6-8 months.

  • Please allow at least 2 weeks before evaluating results. If there are any questions or concerns about results, please contact us at +1 (267)518-5288. If you desire additional filler to the area treated, please allow full tissue recovery for 4 weeks between appointment times.
